Role Of Outdoor Activities In Child development
Children who spend there time outdoors have a higher IQ. A child not only learns to have fun and play, he also learns to build his social, emotional and cognitive skills. When a child plays in a group he develops interactive skills, gets to be attentive and exhibits leadership skills.
While technology has its benefits, it cannot and must not be a replacement for the outdoors. While outdoors children learn to improve their skills, they learn the value of humility, sympathy, sharing, respect and socializing. As they learn to appreciate things around them, all of this goes into building the IQ. and personality of the child. Experts believe that outdoor activities play a constructive part in overall development of the child. Fun is an important element in increasing brain capacity as hormones produced when a child is happy, improves brain development.
Children trend to follow the lifestyle of their parents. If parents spend time in front of television and computer, it gives wrong impression to the children that this is the recommended way of living. Watching television and playing games in computer can lead to restrictive thinking.
Parents should plan outdoor holidays with them, because outdoors is the best place where child naturally learns. Sound, colours make mind alert and creative. Activities like chasing butterfly, horse ride, collecting shells, photography improves child curiosity. Outings are a social occasions and link a learning activity to happy memory.

Certainly very nice article ..In this phase what we call cyber age , one hardly realizes the importance of getting close to the nature..Children are hooked onto their PC's , powerstations , games and surfing ..
It makes me remind of the time when we use to play a lot in our childhood like hide and seek , or Tag games which not only increased metabolism but made healthy also..
Even corporate now realizes the importance of these activities as they take their employee out on monthly or quarterly basis for having outdoor team activities as they are a way to simulate teamwork and make employees know each other thereby nurturing a healthy work environment..
This article would certainly motivate parents to encourage their kids to play games involving fun and learning..and parents can also join the bandwagon with their kids as their is no age to be Kid at Heart ....
This article is really enlighting for parents.Looking forward for some more articles from you.
Makes sense to me, ma.
Also, along with outdoor activities, the involvement of parents in general is also essential, I feel.
My dad always made it a point to hold these "dinner table conversations". We always dined together in our family and kids were free to talk about any thing - something as silly as what happened during the day or something as important as our opinion on India - Pakistan international policies. Dad never pronounced judgements, but encouraged us to speak our mind, be ready to accept new ideas and get new view points.
Helping mom out in the kitchen chores gave us a sense of responsibility, a practice of how to do tasks systematically.
These seemingly unimportant things actually shaped our minds into what they are now - mature and responsible human beings.
Hats off to your generation, ma, you people did a splendid job on raising us. I'll feel honoured if I can do to Diya at least a part of what you people did for us.
Tons of love,
Keep writing,
~Shona.
